Simple Newborn Session at Home In Houston
I’m so happy to share this sweet and simple newborn session at home in Houston with you. This is the third beautiful baby boy that I have had the honor of photographing for the “C” family. For each new baby we have had a session at their home. What a great opportuity to document the new family member and Mom doesn’t have to take the baby out of the house! Bonus for me as the photographer, I get to see the older boys as they grow up too! I know they’ll be the best big brothers to new baby “G”.
We tried to stick to simple and natural colors for this session. We also incorporated heirloom blankets that are very special to the parents during this session. Each session Mom and Dad order a canvas to hang in the living room of each of their son’s. I love this tradition and wanted to creat an image for baby #3 that would coordinate and make apleasing grouping- in the living room proudly displayed for all visiting guests to see.
Organic Posing For An At-Home Newborn Session in Houston
In an effort to keep the baby very comfortable at all times, I keep posing very simple. Keeping the baby warm with gently wrapped fabrics and fuzzy textures keep the baby as relaxed and comfortable as possible during their first professional photo shoot. Which I hope is the first of many as we document this special first year of life!
Sleeping Baby Photos At-Home During a Houston Newborn Session
A few steps are take for care of the baby and to help the baby sleep through the session as much as possible. Here are the top tips for a sleepy baby in my experience:
- If you really want sleepy baby photos- then the first 10 days of life are the best days for the newborn session.
- The room should be warm and without the air conditioning going. If you can turn the heater on that will be extra cozy for baby.
- When I arrive at your home, I will need some time to bring inside and set up the props. This is a good time to feed and rock the baby into sleep so they are ready for photos.
- The most important tip is to have patience. The new baby will need a break now and then to eat or be rocked by mom- never fear this is totally common during a newborn session.
